Q & A

How long will it take?

Everyone is different and treatment time depends on many factors. Generally, there are 5 types of care.

1. Pain relief- Most people experience 5-10% relief each session. Each therapy session builds on the one before and your progress is affected by your work, lifestyle and general health. If you are not feeling improvement within 4 weeks of therapy, we need to step back and review.

2. Corrective care- Focusing on structural imbalances after the pain is under control is the optimum follow through to avoid recurrence.

3.Support care-most degenerative spine conditions are never entirely "fixed" but rather managed. A wholistic approach over time can help keep these folks on their feet. It is always the goal to minimize the use of opioids and other drugs, limit procedures and surgeries. The collaboration of manual therapy and pain management can be very helpful.

4.Performance care- Individuals engaging in sports and performance arts can be keenly aware of the effects of slight musculoskeletal imbalances. From baseball to running to dance, ease of motion is a key to performing well. Cellists and singers appreciate the effect of skeletal health on performance!  Golfers, tennis players, and cyclists notice a difference when aligned.Professionals and amateurs alike seek performance enhancement care

5. Prevention and well care- Many people are prevention -minded and seek care of minor imbalances hoping to avoid and escalation. Often this wholistic care includes lifestyle assessment, periodic treatment of mechanical "glitches" causing minor back and neck tension, loss of motion as well as attention to diet and exercise and physiological stress.

What is the manipulation for?

Spinal Manipulation is a skilled movement to shift bones and joints. The objective of this movement is to realign vertebrae that are fixed and affecting the muscles and other structures. Joints can get"stuck".. for a number of reasons... ranging from normal daily activity to trauma such as a car accident or sports injury.

The brain and body work together to create and learn movement patterns. The body is optimally fit when it moves comfortably and with ease .
